Immigration Backlog Is Easing, Finally!

Skilled work visas, processed in the last two and a half months, were more than what was processed in the year 2021 and that’s really good news!

Data released by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), reveals that between December 15, 2021, and February 28, 2022, the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) inventory went down by over 9,000 applicants.

Before the pandemic, Express Entry draws were held approximately every two weeks. After the pandemic, things changed and IRCC only invited candidates through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

How to Qualify for Express Entry

Before applying for Express Entry you will need to qualify by obtaining 67 or more points on a 100 point scale system. There is a selection factor that assesses and assigns applicants interested in Express Entry an overall score out of 100. If you score over 67 points you may qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program. If you score lower than 67 points you will not qualify for the program. The detailed scores are in the following order: Age (12 points), Language Skills (28 points), Work Experience (15 points), Education (25 points), Arranged Employment in Canada (10 points), Adaptability (10 points).
