A Canadian Member of Parliament has proposed improvements to Canada’s Super Vise. It has been suggested that parents and grandparents be allowed to stay in Canada for five years, instead of two years.
Moreover, by these proposed changes, applicants will be able to save thousands of dollars by being permitted to get medical insurance from countries other than Canada.
The proposal also suggests reducing the low-income cut-off for inviting parents and grandparents, with the ultimate goal of eliminating the income test entirely.
What is a super visa?
A super visa is a multi-entry visa which lets parents and grandparents visit their children or grandchildren for up to 2 years at a time without the need to renew their status. It provides multiple entries for a period of up to 10 years.
To be eligible for a super visa, your child or grandchild must:
be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada
sign an invitation letter to invite you to Canada
that their household meets the minimum necessary income
You as parents or grandparents must:
have medical insurance from a Canadian insurance company
apply for a super visa from outside Canada
be allowed to enter Canada
take an immigration medical exam
